A teenage youth was discovered deceased just days following being falsely blamed of taking the ashes of a deceased infant during a burglary, an inquest has heard.
Kai Lloyd's mother and father found his remains in his bedroom at his Connah's Quay residence on November 19th, 2021.
The inquest learned how his mother received a communication on November 8th, 2021 via online platforms, from a individual asking if Kai was her offspring. The message stated: "Inform him thanks for breaking into my apartment."
In a testimony presented to the court, the mother said the woman had been in the media, claiming her baby's ashes had been stolen in a break-in - a claim which was untrue.
An official inquiry from police later determined the alleged break-in victim had "lied to police" and "it now appears that the property was never stolen in the first place".
Media reports about the alleged stolen remains generated online responses, and although the teenager was not identified in the messages, his mother said people "knew it was him".
The "social media content were really upsetting", she said.
She added that her son had been diagnosed with moderate ADHD, and as part of that disorder, other peoples' opinions genuinely were important to him.
"It would have hurt him deeply," she commented, "particularly when this was untrue".
Kai was arrested at home, but no evidence was found. He was taken to a police station and later released pending further inquiry.
Authorities said they would be in touch, the hearing heard, but had not reached out to the relatives by the moment of his death.
His mother said her son "withdrew into himself" after the arrest and "repeatedly inquired me whether I had received anything from the police", because his condition meant sometimes "a minute could feel like much longer".
When she spoke to him about the supposed burglary, she said her son informed her he had entered the residence because the woman who lived there had said he could utilize the toilet anytime he wanted, but refuted removing anything.
In a joint statement between her and her husband, Mrs Lloyd said her son was being bullied digitally after the allegations.
The proceedings learned that a young adult encouraged the teenager to end his life.
She had no worries on the evening before he passed away, explaining how she had listened to him "laughing and joking".
She described him as a "caring, loving" boy, and said her "relatives is totally shattered".
He had been "obviously hiding his worries", she stated, adding that he could not bear to have anyone "think bad of him".
The hearing received testimony from educational personnel at Connah's Quay High School.
On November 8th, she "heard some students talking that the student had been arrested and that was the first I heard".
"He informed me... he'd was innocent," she added.
After the conversation, the educator said she rang the family's family telephone and left a voicemail saying she had communicated to Kai about the allegations.
The proceedings learned his family said they never got that communication.
Senior investigator told the hearing he would wait for reports regarding what enhancements had been made to dealing with suspects with ADHD, before determining whether he should make a avoidance of future fatalities report.
Delivering a descriptive conclusion, he said: "Around November 8th, 2021, unsubstantiated accusations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a young child.
"Likely falsehoods were subsequently exaggerated and amplified through the platform of social media.
"During November 11th, he was interviewed by the police and following his questioning he was released whilst inquiries continued."
The official concluded: "There is no evidence that the acts or failures of any organization led to or added to his death and although it was the outcome of a self-inflicted act it is not possible to determine his purpose."
